Nutella Cheesecake Puffs

Another Nutella treat! Yes, there are a few of them for World Nutella Day (February 5). These are actually pretty impressive looking and not much effort, really. Definitely a lovely dessert piece and can be served with whipped cream or ice cream. Excellent when warm.

Ingredients
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1 egg yolk
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon corn starch
1/2 cup Nutella
1 egg, mixed with 2 tablespoons milk, for egg wash
powdered sugar, to garnish (optional)

Ingredients
Preheat oven to 350F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silpat.

On a well-floured surface, roll out puff pastry into a 12 x 12-inch square. Cut into 9 equal square shapes (18 in total). In a work bowl, combine cream cheese, egg yolk, sugar, salt and corn starch. Whisk until combined.

Lay out one square and in the middle, drop 1 1/2 teaspoons of the cream cheese mixture and next to it, 1 1/2 teaspoons Nutella. Place a second square on top of the bottom square, covering the fillings, and Using a fork dipped in flour press the edges of the turnovers with the tines of the fork to seal the edges together. Place the turnovers onto the prepared baking sheet.

In small dish, whisk together egg and milk to make an egg wash. Brush each turnover with the egg wash. Bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve warm.
