Cinnamon and Cinnamon Chip Rice Krispies Treats

Something other than cookie! It’s November, so I am in the middle of baking all my cookies for the annual Cookie Madness, but decided that I wanted to make something different this week to snack on. So I made Rice Krispies Squares. Only I added cinnamon and cinnamon chips. Ooh, and these have a trick for staying softer for longer: I added condensed milk. Great flavor. Nice snack.

Spiced Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

These are not Christmas Cookies… though they might look like it. And I might actually use them as Christmas Cookies in the future, but for now, they are just cookies for cookies sake. I added espresso powder, cinnamon and chili powder to make them a little more complex. Don’t skip the “chilling” step, otherwise you won’t get the crinkle effect. Definitely a winner!

German-Inspired Apple Custard Tart

My mom often asks me to make a “German” apple pie. Well, as the expression goes, that ain’t as easy as apple pie! Just like “American” apple pie has about a million variations, so does any other regional variation. What I think my mom means is this custard pie, which is one variation. It’s lovely. Not too sweet, creamy and lush. I used pink lady apples, which hold their shape and stay crisp throughout baking. Quite lovely.
