So, these cookies are a little out of character for me: for starters, they are bigger, like the size of my hand. That is unusual for me as I prefer smaller cookies. And second, they use artificial colors in the sugar, which I do once in a blue moon. But back in late June, i made some fantastic strawberry jam, and then in mid-July, I found a strawberry shaped cookie cutter, so I knew that these cookies needed to me. They are actually quite yummy, with just a hint of almond in the cookie itself. And the homemade jam is great too.

They are a great summer dessert or snack, come together in a flash and this time, I had some red current jelly to add from when I went picking last week, plus passion fruit jam. Have you ever had passion fruit jam? It’s sooooo yummy.
More strawberries! And more crumble bars. These really are my “go to” thing when I need something quick and delicious, minimal effort, maximum output. And it helps if you just went strawberry picking an have homemade jam. This variety also has a bit of lemon zest in the shortbread and believe it or not, a little bit of thyme. No, it doesn’t taste “herby” though. 🙂
Sundae Funday! Happy Sunday everyone! It’s a beautiful day and I hope that there might be some ice cream in your future. When I was a little girl, the Italian gelato place that we went to didn’t have cones. You always got your frozen goodness in a dish, but they always added a small pizzelle. So that got me to thinking … isn’t a pizzelle just a flat cone? After looking at the ingredients for cones and pizzelle, yup, they are. These are extra-special though, so meant for Sundays (I mean Sundaes) with the chocolate and sprinkles.
