Back at it with my unique flavor combinations: this time, Coffee, Chocolate and …. Cardamom! I think that you all know that I have this absolutely love for cardamom and it pairs really really nicely with coffee, so why not combine the flavors in a cookie. Besides, it makes the kitchen smell amazing on a Sunday morning.

Switching gears to something sorts of Valentine’s Day like. I think that I say this every year, but I have a love-hate relationship with Valentine’s Day. Ok, it’s mostly a hate-hate because of the absurdity, the consumerism and contrived nature of it all. Love? Well the reason that I might like it a little is that it is an excuse in the middle of the winter to make lots of cookies, chocolates, truffles and the like. And what the heck, you might as well have a theme. So I figured I’d start now, in case anyone wants to use these recipes for their own creations.
I’m sure you’ve all gathered that I have this thing with Sea Salt, especially mixed with sweet things, so I was over the moon when I was gifted some lovely salts from Atlantic Salt Works from right here in Massachusetts (Gloucester — pronounced Glaah-stah, from those of your “from away”). The one that I was most intrigued by was the Coffee Sea Salt which sounded just perfect for these cookies. Perfect!
These might be my new favorite chocolate chip cookies. I know, I know, I likely said that at the last batch of chocolate chip style cookies that I made, but these add in two of my other favorite flavors: espresso and coconut. And they are the perfect thing on this chilly and blustery Friday afternoon. Time for some hot chocolate to go with them too!
