Cooler weather (though really, it has still been summery) makes me want to bake more bread. Most of the time, when I want a multigrain, I go to my standard Dakota bread, but I wanted to see if I could make a decent No Knead, bake in a Dutch Oven style. This didn’t disappoint. I happen to have some King Arthur Artisan Bread Topping, but you can also mix your own with a combo of seeds (sesame, sunflower, poppy, even pumpkin) or mix in some flax or even oatmeal. Turned out really nice for a first attempt. While it does look dense, it is actually lovely and light on the inside.

Very Berry Jam Trio: Black Current + Port Wine, Cran-Strawberry and Raspberry Rhubarb Jams
So, it’s summer and I have gone berry picking a number of times. This always means that I make jam, to carry on the intense summer flavors to the rest of the year. This year, I made a few more kinds than usual, so I am putting them all in one “Triple Berry Jam” post. Pick whichever one you like and make some yourself. The Cran-Strawberry is refreshing, the Black Current + Port Wine also works well as an accompaniment to wine and cheese and the Raspberry Rhubarb? Well, that one I managed to get most of the seeds out so no picking at your teeth after breakfast. Enjoy!
Rainy and kind of miserable start to the work week, rainy and yucky end to the week. But there is bread… pretty. hearty, rustic Raisin Pecan Bread with the touch of Cinnamon. Bread makes everything better. It’s another one of my “no knead, make in a cast iron pot” experiments and definitely a winner.
