Ever have a craving for something random, so that you go to the store to get all the ingredients, get home and then realize “Nah, not in the mood anymore?” That is sort of what happened with these. I had a Rice Krispies Treat craving (I should have just bought the already-made ones and eaten one in the store parking lot), but then … well, let’s just say I decided to dress them up a bit with chocolate chunks, caramel bits and pretzels. I was going to call them “Everything But the Kitchen Sink Rice Krispies Squares” but I would have had o throw in peanuts, Oreo pieces and Doritos…. lucky for you, I didn’t have any of those around!
Ingredients
4 tablespoons butter
5 cups mini marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 cup mini-pretzels
1 bag chocolate chunks
1 bag Kraft Caramel Bits
Directions
Line a 9 x 13 pan with a parchment sling, spray with baking spray and set aside.
In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add rice krispies and 3/4 of the mini pretzels and stir until well coated. Once the mixture is a little cooled (after you’ve mixed in the rice krispies and pretzels) add in half the chocolate chunks and Caramel bits. Using buttered spatula (or butter coated hands!) evenly half the press mixture onto the prepared pan. Sprinkle over some of the remaining chocolate chunks and caramel bits. Spread over the remaining rice krispies mixture and sprinkle with the remaining chocolate, caramel and pretzels, pressing down on the top to make sure everything stays put. Cool for an hour or so (20-30 minutes in the fridge).
Using the sling, lift out the chilled rice krispies treats and cut into 16-24 pieces.
