While I am throwing M&Ms into treats, I thought I would make some “Don’t Call it Chex” Snack Mix. It is Chex Mix though. But yummier, imo, than your standard stuff. The honey and Worcestershire sauce give it a nice tangy sweetness. The almonds and peanut M&Ms a nutty crunch. Great for nibbling. Obviously I used the springtime / Easter M&Ms, given the season, but go for the regular colors the rest of the year.
Ingredients
8 cups Chex cereal (I used half corn and half rice Chex, but there is also wheat, so whatever you like)
2 cups mini pretzels
1 cup raw unsalted almonds
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted and hot
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup honey
1 1/2 tablespoons kosher salt
2 11-ounce package Easter peanut M&Ms
Directions
Combine the Chex, pretzels, Cheerios, and peanuts together in a large microwave-safe mixing bowl, and gently stir a bit.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, honey, and kosher salt until combined. Drizzle half of the sauce evenly over the Chex mix, then give the mix a gentle stir to combine. Repeat by drizzling the remaining sauce over the Chex mix, and stir again until combined. Microwave uncovered on high 5 to 6 minutes, thoroughly stirring every 2 minutes. Spread the mix out on parchment paper lined baking sheets until it has cooled to room temperature.
Once cool, add the peanut M&Ms and toss. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
